We understand how expensive it can be to replace your boiler if it breaks down, so why not work on preventing breakdowns before they even occur? Keep reading to find our top boiler maintenance tips, to keep your home warm and cosy all year round!
Protect your pipes
It is not uncommon for pipes to freeze over in the winter, sometimes even causing them to burst. This is an avoidable problem that can be easily prevented, so why not lag your pipes now before the weather gets worse. This is far from a difficult job, and many DIY shops sell ready-made pipe lagging that easily slips over your pipes and protects them from the cold weather. It can be fitted in minutes and only costs a few pounds.
Switch your boiler off when it isn’t needed
When the weather gets warmer, you can switch your boiler off easily to get some extra savings. For combi boilers, switch it to hot water only. However, you should switch your boiler on for at least fifteen minutes each month to prevent problems for the winter as it is easy for issues to arise while your boiler is dormant.
Check the pressure
The ideal boiler pressure is between 1 and 1.5. If the pressure is too low, your boiler will not run properly. To find out your boiler pressure, simply check the dial on the front of your boiler. If it needs topping up, do so safely with the instructions in your manufacturer's guide. Alternatively, our team will be happy to help.
Why not get a powerflush?
A powerflush is an easy way to keep your system clean and healthy, and the results can last for up to five years. It uses water to clean all the rust, dirt and debris out of your system so you get the maximum amount of heat flowing through your pipes and radiators.
